Job Summary:

The culinary lab assistant supports culinary instructors, staff, and students with demonstrations and hands-on activities in the classrooms and kitchens.

Examples of typical duties include:

  • Opening the kitchen prior to class.
  • Managing chef-instructors’ mise-en-place for classroom demonstrations.
  • Assisting in the upkeep and sanitation practices of all areas of the Culinary – Allied Health building.
  • Assisting in receiving, storing, and the distribution of all food and supplies.
Minimum Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Knowledge of proper food handling practices is required.

Servsafe Manager® certification is required.

Candidates must be motivated and reliable.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

Previous coursework, or industry experience, in culinary arts is preferred.

Physical Demands:

Lifting, bending, stooping, and standing required.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to follow and complete verbal and written duties as assigned.

Must have manual dexterity; the sufficient fine motor skills to manipulate objects and people safely.

Ability to work in a high traffic, noisy, indoor environment.

Work Hours: 10 - 12 hours per week, additional hours may be available as needed; flexible schedule with work hours to be determined based on class scheduling needs.
